Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is officially designated as a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The certification is awarded to organizations that complete specialized training and certification in autism and sensory awareness, ensuring staff are better equipped to provide more inclusive and thoughtful service to all guests.

Waldorf Astoria DIFC joins a growing network of travel and hospitality organizations around the world committed to creating safe and welcoming experiences for autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals. The hotel’s designation reflects a broader commitment to inclusive guest service as part of Hilton’s global initiatives to support accessibility and hidden disabilities.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to work with IBCCES as we take this step of becoming a Certified Autism Center™,” says Georges Al Asmar, interim general manager at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre. “This initiative reflects our commitment to creating an environment where all guests feel welcome and supported, including those with hidden disabilities. It aligns with our purpose and values, and we are proud to take action that helps make hospitality more inclusive.”

To achieve the CAC designation, key team members at the hotel completed autism-specific training provided by IBCCES, focusing on sensory processing, communication strategies, and inclusive guest service protocols. This training ensures that staff are prepared to recognize and support guests who may benefit from accommodations during their stay.

As part of Hilton’s partnership with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, Waldorf Astoria DIFC offers complimentary Sunflower lanyards at the front desk. This discreet symbol allows guests to indicate that they may require additional support, time, or space during their visit. Trained team members are equipped to respond with care, patience, and understanding. The hotel also offers customized dietary options at all dining venues, with service teams dedicated to meeting a range of dietary needs in a respectful, attentive manner.

“IBCCES is proud to partner with Waldorf Astoria DIFC as they expand their accessibility efforts and raise the standard for inclusive hospitality in the region,” says Myron Pincomb, CEO and board chairman of IBCCES. “Their dedication to understanding and meeting the needs of all guests—especially those with hidden disabilities—is a powerful example of how the hospitality industry can lead with empathy and impact.”

For more than two decades, IBCCES has been a leader in providing autism, sensory and neurodiversity training and certification for professionals worldwide, including those in healthcare, education, public safety, travel, and corporate sectors. As the only credentialing board offering these programs, IBCCES provides training from subject matter experts and autistic self-advocates, along with long-term support, continuous learning, onsite reviews, and renewal requirements to ensure continued growth and lasting impact.

To further support inclusivity efforts, Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is featured on the IBCCES Accessibility App™, which is free to download. This app provides individuals with a variety of disabilities real-time guidance on certified destinations, sensory-friendly spaces, and tailored recommendations. By connecting users to accessible locations worldwide, the app helps ensure seamless, enjoyable experiences for everyone.

IBCCES also provides access to resources such as AccessibiltyCertified.com and AutismTravel.com, free online tools for families that list certified locations and professionals. Each organization listed on the site has met IBCCES certification requirements.
