City of Scotts Valley

Scotts Valley, California, is a small, charming city located in Santa  Cruz County, about 6 miles north of Santa Cruz, 30 miles southwest of San Jose, and 68 miles south of San Francisco. Nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, it’s a picturesque area that features a suburban feel surrounded by nature, making it a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Hiking, biking, and enjoying the scenic beauty of the mountains and beaches are popular activities. The proximity to the Silicon Valley, Monterey Bay, and Santa Cruz  Mountains makes it an excellent place to live and visit.

The Skypark Tot Lot (2-5) Playground was recently renovated, and includes sensory activities and accessible features, including protective shock-absorbing unitary surfacing, wide movement routes, and smooth, even transitions on and off equipment, with use zones, ground surfacing, and playground equipment all ADA  compliant with ASTM. In addition to accessible play features, there are also opportunities for calm, offering cozy, quiet spaces, perimeter paths and fences, and providing a wayfinding system that includes an orientation path. The City is currently redesigning the big kids (5-12) playground to include more accessibility features as well. We are also starting to implement low sensory zones at our events; quieter, less stimulating areas where kids can still be a part of the event but in a more calming environment. Roaring Camp is only a short drive away and offers train rides through the Redwood Forests to the Beach in Santa Cruz. Endless nature trails surround the city.
