For more than 150 years, The Indianapolis Public Library (IndyPL) has continuously adapted and expanded to serve the evolving needs of our city and its residents. The Beech Grove Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library offers a range of inclusive amenities and services designed to support autistic, neurodivergent, and disabled patrons as part of its commitment to being an autism-certified location. The branch provides sensory-friendly kits for public use, including noise-canceling headphones (adult and child sizes), sunglasses, a variety of fidgets, and liquid motion timers, with clear instructions to help patrons comfortably navigate the space and participate in programs. In addition, the library offers accessible computer workstations with height-adjustable desks, large-key and large-print keyboards, and trackball mice with arm supports, along with assistive software such as screen readers, text-to-speech, live transcription, magnification, and math tools. Free Wi-Fi, public computers with Microsoft Office, early learning computer stations, reservable study and meeting rooms, and a computer training lab provide flexible, low-stress environments for learning, work, and collaboration. Self-service options such as mobile printing, document scanning, color printing and copying, and walk-up book returns further support independent and accessible use of the library for patrons with diverse sensory and cognitive needs.
