Village of Wellington
Located in the heart of Palm Beach County, the Village of Wellington is a premier South Florida community known for its award-winning parks, excellent schools, and inclusive atmosphere. Frequently ranked among the nation’s “Best Places to Live,” Wellington offers a high quality of life in a safe, family-friendly environment.
Wellington is deeply committed to accessibility for residents and visitors of all abilities. The Village has implemented inclusive features like communication boards in several parks to assist non-verbal children and supports adaptive recreation across its facilities. Scott’s Place, a barrier-free playground, exemplifies this dedication by providing accessible play for children with disabilities.
Families seeking low-stimulation experiences can enjoy Wellington’s peaceful green spaces, inclusive aquatic amenities, and sensory-friendly programs. The Village is also known for its vibrant equestrian culture, including the Winter Equestrian Festival and polo events—ideal for enjoying at your own pace in open-air settings.
With compassionate, well-trained staff and a strong focus on community, Wellington is more than just a travel destination—it’s a place where every family member can feel welcome, supported, and at home.
Whether you’re stopping by for a day at the playground, taking in the sights of a horse show, or exploring the many programs available throughout the year, Wellington welcomes you with open arms.
Wellington is dedicated to creating a supportive environment for both residents and visitors. From public spaces to events and services, the Village takes proactive steps to ensure everyone—regardless of ability—can experience all that Wellington has to offer. This commitment is reflected in everything from adaptive recreation programming to sensory-friendly playgrounds and communication tools for non-verbal children.
One standout feature is Scott’s Place, a barrier-free playground designed to serve both able-bodied and disabled children. Located near the Wellington Amphitheater, the playground includes inclusive play structures, rubberized safety surfacing, and Communication Boards that support non-verbal children and those with developmental differences in expressing themselves and engaging with others.
In 2024, the Village expanded this initiative by installing Communication Boards in four of its public parks, further supporting children with speech and language challenges. These additions create safe and engaging spaces for children on the autism spectrum and their families.
Wellington also prioritizes digital accessibility. The Village’s official website follows Universal Design principles, adhering to W3C Guidelines and ADA Accessibility Requirements to ensure users of all abilities can access vital community information and services online.
For guests needing accommodations during visits or events, the Village provides reasonable accommodations, wheelchair access, and wheelchair companion seating upon request. Wellington’s ADA Coordinator, Kim Gibbons, is available to assist:
