Amazement Square

Amazement Square is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary, interactive museum located in historic Downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. The museum offers four floors of hands-on, interactive exhibits designed to make learning fun. Visitors of all ages and abilities can paint on the walls in the Kaleidoscope Gallery, explore life on the farm, create a rainstorm over downtown Lynchburg, float a boat down the James River, and rock out on stage in a band of their own!
Before exploring the 8 multi-disciplinary galleries, visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the sensory sensitivity resources the museum offers, including the virtual tour, museum guides, and social stories to share with your children. The museum also offers sensory guides, designated quiet areas and when needed, use of our available distract packs.

The museum’s dedication to accessibility is integral to its values and at the forefront of its educational philosophy. Amazement Square provides free curriculum-based programming designed to meet the needs of families with children on the autism spectrum and other sensory sensitivities through the Everyone is Special (EIS) program. This program provides hands-on experiential learning opportunities that are accessible to all visitors. Included in the EIS program, Amazement Square offers quarterly events specifically for children with ASD and their families that allow for exclusive museum exploration in a sensory-conscious environment, custom STEAM-based programs led by staff, and opportunities for increased social experiences among their peers.
