Dossin Great Lakes Museum

The Dossin Great Lakes Museum is located at 100 Strand Drive on Belle Isle. Permanent exhibits include the Gothic Room, Built by the River, Miss Pepsi, and the William Clay Ford Pilot House. Each year the museum features a rotating selection of its historically significant ship model collection and a new temporary exhibition in the Robert M. Dossin Gallery that complements the permanent exhibits.

Exhibition spaces have been refined with accessibility in mind with few obstructions, appropriately leveled reader rails and buttons, and QR enabled content. Staff has been trained to welcome and accommodate neuro-diverse guests and tours are available that incorporate more sensory-friendly accommodations.  Family events regularly offer special hours for families who would benefit from a less stimulating museum experience. Sensory bags are available at our registration desks and the Society has plans to create quiet rooms this 2024.
